Self-defence courses

Self-defence comes in many shapes and sizes: from being attacked on the streets by random assailants to being harassed at school, work or even at home by people you know and trust. Up to 70% of all attackers are acquaintances – would you then still scratch the eyes out of a so-called friend, classmate, colleague, boss, teacher or uncle as has often been recommended? The trick to defending yourself successfully is in beforehand recognising that you may end up in a dangerous situation and respond to that notion promptly and properly. In order to behave and therefore defend yourself in such a way, it is important to not only learn techniques but especially to understand the principles of Self-defence.

Our Self-defence Courses consist of 8, or 1-2 day training sessions in which we distinguish between four levels of self-defence. The reason for this distinction is to allow us to analyse and understand each part of any given dangerous situation better. It is important to note that most fights end up on the ground. This means that you never want to be on the ground, however, it is crucial to know how to defend yourself on the ground.

  1. Be aware of your surroundings
  2. Stand up defence
  3. Transition from standing to the ground
  4. Ground defence

In our courses you get the chance to test your skills in simulated, yet realistic, scenarios. In doing so, you learn to keep calm in stressful situations. Depending on the age group the Self-defence course will be tailored to the needs of that specific group. Additionally, no athletic ability or foreknowledge is needed for these courses.
