Self-Defence

“The best fighter is not a Boxer, Karate or Judo man. The best fighter is someone who can adapt on any style. He kicks too good for a Boxer, throws too good for a Karate man, and punches too good for a Judo man.”  Bruce Lee

Laurien Zurhake & Alex Söhn fighting standsMixed martial arts (MMA) is a full-contact combat sport that combines the most effective striking and grappling techniques, for both standing and on the ground, from various martial arts and combat sports such as (kick)boxen, BJJ, Ju-Jutsu, wrestling and Muay Thai.

Originally, fighters from different martial arts and combat sports fought each other in order to find out which style is most effective. Consequently it became clear that there is, as Bruce Lee already suggested, no such style, but that every martial art has something valuable to offer. In this way, you learn how to defend yourself at different distances and from various positions with diverse techniques.

Apart from learning all these highly effective techniques, your physical and mental fitness will improve significantly and fast. Simultaneously we make sure that you train in a friendly and safe environment in which you have fun, sweat, and learn how to defend yourself. We also incorporate the use of boxing and MMA gloves, which enables students who have, for example, a Judo, Ju-Jutsu or BJJ background, to learn how to unite striking combinations with throws, to let loose on the boxing bags and get rid off all the stress of the day.
